At approximately 7:00 p.m. on December 29, 1989, Vona James left her Hamilton, Ohio home and drove to Hoppy's Garden, a nearby tavern at the intersection of Tenth Street and Greenwood Avenue. Because of winter weather conditions—low temperatures and an accumulation of snow on the ground—James was dressed in a sweater and jeans, suede boots and a light fur jacket and scarf. James had been drinking at home and had several more drinks...
