During a confrontation near the Jeffries Point Yacht Club in East Boston, the defendant killed William Moran by striking him on the head with a baseball bat. He was indicted for first degree murder along with James All. At trial, the defendant testified that he struck Moran with the bat because he believed Moran was reaching for a knife during an altercation with All, the defendant's friend.
