Charles sued Allstate under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e-2 (1988) and 42 U.S.C. § 1981 (1988) alleging that Allstate and one of its managers, Denise Schaefer, discriminated against her on the basis of sex and race when they discharged her.
