Robert Saavedra and his wife sued Murphy Oil U.S.A., Inc. (Murphy) for injuries he allegedly received while working at a Murphy oil refinery in Meraux, Louisiana. Saavedra's employer, Lou-Con, Inc. (Lou-Con), was doing contract work for Murphy at the time of the accident. The district court granted summary judgment for Murphy, finding that it had tort immunity from Saavedra's suit because it was his statutory employer. The district...
