Carl J. Knapp slipped off the rock from which he was fishing and was drowned in the swirling waters of the Diversion River during a trip to Canada on June 14, 1988. Only one month before, Mr. Knapp had decided to change life insurers. The outcome of this case depends in great part on how contemporaneous these two events really were.
