Defendant, Gerald Bernard "Ben" Baker, Sr., was indicted by a grand jury for the November 2, 1988 first degree murder of Michael Alden, Jr., a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.

Defendant was arraigned on December 12, 1988 and pled not guilty. Trial was held August 22nd thru 25th, 1989. Defendant was found guilty as charged by a twelve member jury. Following the sentencing phase of the trial, the jury recommended...
