COVINGTON, Chief Judge.

The defendant, Sidney Barnes, was charged by bill of information with aggravated battery, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:34. He pled not guilty1, and after trial by jury, was found guilty as charged. Subsequently the defendant was adjudicated a second felony habitual offender. He received a sentence of twelve years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence2
