Defendant Stefen Hart (Hart) was charged with criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse (Ill.Rev. Stat.1987, ch. 38, pars. 12-13; 12-14; and 12-15) in connection with an incident that occurred on November 18, 1987, involving M.T., a four-year-old girl. After a bench trial Hart was found guilty on the one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and was sentenced...
