The defendant, Joe Williams, was charged by bill of information with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, a violation of La.R.S. 40:967(A). He pled not guilty and, after trial by jury, was found guilty of the responsive verdict of attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine, a violation of La.R.S. 40:967(A) and 979. Subsequently, the State filed a habitual offender bill of information alleging that the defendant was a fourth felony...
