James Carroll appeals from a judgment of the district court dismissing his complaint against Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (SWBT). We reverse and remand.

In February 1990 Carroll filed a two-count complaint in state court against SWBT. Count I alleged wrongful discharge in violation of a collective bargaining agreement. Count I further alleged that Carroll had attempted to exhaust the agreement's grievance procedures, but...
