This case arises from the shipment of a truck and drilling rig from New Orleans. Enroute to Honduras, the vessel encountered rough weather and the cargo was damaged. The shipper sued the shipowner and the charterer for the lost value, and won in the district court. This appeal by the shipowner and the charterer requires us to resolve questions of a carrier's liability under the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act ("COGSA"), 46 U.S.C.App. § 1300...
