TJOFLAT, Chief Judge:

On June 23, 1989, Kenneth Patrick Delvecchio pled guilty in the Middle District of Georgia to a charge that he conspired to import 1,005 pounds (455.9 kilograms) of marijuana into the United States in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 960, 963 (1988). Delvecchio was sentenced under the guidelines1 to imprisonment for 262 months, with a five-year term of supervised release. He now appeals this sentence.
