Defendant was charged by indictment for the murder of his girlfriend. (Ill.Rev. Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a).) He filed a motion to quash his arrest and to suppress certain inculpatory statements he made. Following an evidentiary hearing, the trial court determined that the police had probable cause to arrest defendant at the scene of the crime.
