CLIFFORD, Justice.

Gary L. Keith appeals from the sentence imposed following his conviction in Superior Court (Kennebec County, Alexander, J.) of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. 29 M.R.S.A. § 1312-B (Supp.1990). Keith asserts that the court sentenced him pursuant to the mandatory minimum sentencing provisions of 29 M.R.S.A. § 1312-B(2)(C)1
