Defendant-appellant Daniel Gore was charged with two counts of first degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1987, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)) and one count of armed violence. Defendant was tried before a jury. The latter charge was nolle prossed at the conclusion of the State's case. The jury was instructed on self-defense, first degree murder and both forms of second degree murder. The jury returned a verdict of guilty...
