Plaintiffs appeal the dismissal of their negligence action against defendant Mehlville Fire Protection District.1 We affirm.

Plaintiffs raise two points on appeal; however, we need not reach the second point. They contend "[t]he trial court erred in sustaining the Mehlville Fire Protection District's motion to dismiss under the `public duty' doctrine and in overruling [plaintiffs'] motion for reconsideration...."...
