Plaintiff-appellee, Ashraf Sigari, sued her insurer, defendant-appellant, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, for failure to pay, pursuant to a health insurance policy issued to her, medical expenses of $11,132.00 incurred for hospitalization and surgery of a ruptured intervertebral disc. The trial court found (1) the injury was covered under the policy, (2) the insurer failed to timely pay the claim, and (3) awarded penalties (double the claim) and attorney...
