Hays-Fendler Construction Company (Hays-Fendler) was the general contractor for the construction of the Centerre Bank Building in Springfield. The building was completed in the early 1970s. By his petition, plaintiff Floyd H. Shaver alleged that on February 12, 1981, he was severely injured by reason of Hays-Fendler's negligence in constructing an air shaft in the Centerre Bank Building which contained an electrical sump pump requiring maintenance, but...
