On December 10, 1988, a Cessna 650 owned by plaintiff Jetcraft made its final approach toward Runway 31 of the Hutchinson Municipal Airport. Johnny De Los Santos, a commercial pilot licensed by the FAA and employed by Transporte Aero, S.A., sat in the left-hand front seat of the aircraft and conducted the final approach.
