FLAUM, Circuit Judge.

The United States appeals the reduction — from 15 to 5 years — of the sentence originally imposed on Darrell Lowe after he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. See 18 U.S.C. § 922(g).

At trial, Lowe stipulated, on the advice of counsel, to three prior convictions for "violent" felonies — namely, attempted murder, armed robbery, and intimidation. The trial judge therefore enhanced...
