Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Montgomery County, the defendant, Tuhran A. Lear, was found guilty of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and two counts of armed robbery. He was sentenced to death. Additionally, he was sentenced to extended terms of 60 years for armed robbery and attempted murder. His execution was stayed pending direct review by this court (Ill. Const.1970, art. VI...
