On January 18, 1990, the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance filed a Formal Complaint against Judge James "Petey" Hopkins, Justice Court Judge for the Northern District of Lee County, on its own motion. The Complaint contained six counts against Hopkins. The Commission charged Hopkins with accepting gifts, gratuities and other rewards intended to influence his actions as a justice court judge, violating Miss. Code Ann....
