Appellant entered a plea of not guilty before the jury to the offense of aggravated assault of a peace officer. He was convicted, and the jury assessed punishment, enhanced under Tex.Penal Code Ann. § 12.42(a) (Vernon Supp.1990), at confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for five years.
