PRATHER, Justice, for the Court:

I.

In 1988, the Lee County Grand Jury indicted Luther T. McCaine for the unlawful and felonious sale and transfer of cocaine. See MISS. CODE ANN. §§ 41-29-115(A)(a)(4) & 41-29-139 (1972 as amended). A jury subsequently found McCaine guilty, and the trial judge sentenced him to twelve years' imprisonment.
