Defendant, Paul D. Freda, is a psychiatrist who has treated Medicaid patients in group and individual therapy sessions. After an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, defendant was charged and tried before a jury on three counts of theft by deception and four counts of offering a false instrument for recording in the first degree.
