On June 24, 1990, FBI agents found drugs, cash, and a drug ledger in an apartment that Martha Tabares and Ramiro Ramirez shared. Subsequently, a jury convicted Tabares of conspiring to possess cocaine. 21 U.S.C. § 846. The jury convicted Ramirez (1) of the same conspiracy; (2) of actually possessing the cocaine (with intent to distribute it), 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1), (b)(1)(B); and (3) of unlawfully possessing a gun. 18 U.S.C. § 922...
