Defendant, Lawrence Jones, was convicted of robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, par. 18-1) and sentenced to a term of probation. On appeal, defendant contends that his motion to suppress his confession to the above offense was erroneously denied by the trial court and that the confession was the fruit of an illegal search which led to defendant's arrest for possession of cannabis.
