Plaintiff filed this action seeking a divorce, alimony, and an equitable distribution of marital property in the District Court, Buncombe County, on 5 August 1987. A judgment granting an absolute divorce was entered 10 May 1988, and after hearings before Roda, J. in February and March of 1989, an equitable distribution order was entered on 2 June 1989. Both plaintiff and defendant appealed to the Court of Appeals, which reversed the equitable distribution...
