The defendants in these appeals were found guilty in the circuit court of Cook County of the offense of murder. Each case was pending on direct review when this court decided People v. Reddick (1988), 123 Ill.2d 184, 122 Ill.Dec. 1, 526 N.E.2d 141. In Reddick, we found that the then-existing Illinois pattern jury instructions...
