In 1986 Randall Hughes was accused of breaking into a motor vehicle and removing certain items. He claimed he was extremely intoxicated on the night in question and had no memory of any such incident. However, the arresting officer testified that Hughes appeared sober at the time of arrest, which occurred shortly after the alleged incident.
