On June 16, 1989, appellant Julius C. Lyons entered a plea of guilty to battery in the second degree and was sentenced to five years in the Arkansas Department of Correction with four and one-half years suspended. On February 12, 1990, the state filed a petition to revoke alleging that appellant had committed the offenses of theft of property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
