On January 13, 1989, an amended information was filed in the Lancaster County District Court charging defendant, Herman D. Buckman, in count I, with the first degree murder of Denise Stawkowski, in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-303(1) (Reissue 1989), and in count II, with use of a weapon to commit that felony, in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-1205(1) (Reissue 1989). In count II it was also alleged that defendant was a habitual criminal...
