On September 8, 1986, at approximately 7:00 P.M., defendant allegedly entered the Sullivan County residence of David Kessler and Seleena Kessler and stole two items of gold jewelry. The incident was reported to the authorities 10 days later. After a police investigation, the Kesslers positively identified defendant as the perpetrator and a felony complaint was filed on December 13, 1986. Defendant was not, however, arrested until May...
