Citizens attempted to file petitions for referendum with Bev Patterson, the Auditor for the City of Sturgis (City). She refused to accept the petitions, on advice of legal counsel for City. Citizens initiated an action in circuit court requesting a writ of mandamus ordering her to accept and file the petitions...
