Following an automobile accident in Mexico, Franklin and Sandra Smith and Verlin and Nancy Kompelien sought uninsured motorist coverage from their respective insurers. Both claims were denied, and the Smiths and Kompeliens began separate actions for declaratory judgment. Those actions were consolidated by the trial court.
