This case arose from a fire on July 8, 1980, which destroyed the chinaware manufacturing plant owned by American Standard, Inc. Plaintiffs, American Standard and its insurers, brought suit against New Orleans Public Service, the Sewerage and Water Board and its insurer, Lexington Insurance Company, the City of New Orleans, and the New Orleans Fire Department.
