In this appeal the issue is whether back pay and interest awarded to an employee in a civil rights action qualifies as personal earnings which are exempt from garnishment by a judgment creditor under Iowa Code section 642.21 (1989).1 The district court held that back pay and interest on the award were not exempt under section 642.21 and could be garnished by a judgment creditor.
