Convicted of assault and battery (G.L.c. 265, § 13A [1988 ed.]), and assault with intent to rape (G.L.c. 265, § 24 [1988 ed.]), the defendant has appealed challenging the admission of evidence of prior assaults by him offered to identify him as the person who attacked the victim.
