Defendant, Joseph Stevenson, was charged by indictment with attempted murder, (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 8-4), armed robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 18-2(a)), aggravated battery (Ill.Rev. Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 12-4), and armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 33A-2). Following a jury trial, the defendant was convicted of all charges except attempted murder. He was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment...
