On March 16, 1989, John Emory Cherricks was convicted of one count of statutory burglary and one count of grand larceny. In accordance with the recommendation of the jury, the Court sentenced Cherricks to five years on the burglary conviction and to six months on the grand larceny conviction, the sentences to be served concurrently.
