The appellant, Jonathan Payne, was convicted of several traffic offenses and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, all charges stemming from a State trooper's attempt to pull Payne over for speeding. At the trial, the State trooper testified that he pursued Payne after clocking him on the radar travelling 71 miles per hour in a Jeep. The trooper chased him more than 15 miles, over paved highway and dirt roads, with blue light on and siren...
