On June 11 and July 23, 1985, a factfinding trial was held on a petition for dependency of 8-year-old K., the defendant's stepdaughter. The basis for the claimed dependency was the allegation that defendant, Ivan Cleveland, had sexually abused K. and that Mrs. Cleveland, K.'s mother and Cleveland's wife, would not order Cleveland to live elsewhere.
