On June 7, 1989, plaintiff, Velma Beard, filed a complaint in the circuit court of Jasper County against defendant, Mount Carroll Mutual Fire Insurance Company. The complaint alleges that defendant had insured plaintiff against loss or damage by fire to a certain rental house and its contents which were, on September 5, 1988, totally destroyed by fire.
