Defendant, Walter Thomas, was indicted by a Du Page County grand jury on four counts of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9-1), two counts of burglary (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 19-1(a)), two counts of arson (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 20-1(a)) and one count of aggravated arson (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 20-1.1). A jury found defendant guilty of each offense...
