DUFRESNE, Judge.

The defendant, Gregory Hill was charged by bill of information with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1. The underlying felony for this charge was Hill's 1980 conviction for attempted second degree murder. He pled not guilty and after a two-day jury trial was found guilty as charged. The trial judge sentenced Hill to serve seven years in the custody of the Department of Corrections without benefit of parole...
