Appellant first assigns error to the trial court's denial of his motion for funds to obtain the assistance of a psychiatrist and a ballistics expert to facilitate the preparation and presentation of his defense. The trial court found the testimonial and documentary evidence presented did not demonstrate the threshold showing of a "particularized need" necessary to obtain state funds for independent experts.
