Margaret Tarter and William J. Tarter, her husband, brought this medical malpractice action against Dr. Jay G. Linn, an ophthalmologist. Approximately three months after Dr. Linn prescribed the drug Diamox to treat Margaret Tarter's glaucoma, she was diagnosed as having aplastic anemia, an irreversible disorder that inhibits the bone marrow's production of blood components.
