On November 6, 1986, plaintiff-appellant, Charles Edwin Brown, Jr., was a member of the Wilmington College soccer team that played defendant-appellee, Tiffin University. During the final minutes of the match, defendant, Neil Day, a player from Tiffin, ran up from behind Brown and knocked him to the turf.
