On March 25, 1986, at approximately 4:00 P.M., Martin Acquaah reported his nine-year-old daughter Bertha missing. The police questioned Mr. Acquaah and defendant, Bertha's stepmother, at their apartment at 5 Broadway Terrace concerning Bertha's possible whereabouts.
