On May 14, 1986, Viorel Halmaghi and Elena Pintilie signed a "Marriage Contract" in the presence of Sara Zink, an interpreter, and Manfred Geberth, a notary, in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, West Germany. Viorel and Elena married two days later and very shortly thereafter came to reside in Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan.
